Evanston Newborn Photographer
Hold on to the way it feels. The newborn stretch, the sleepy sigh, the quiet rhythm of your home in those first weeks. I photograph in-home lifestyle newborn sessions in Evanston for families who want images that feel warm, real, and gently elevated.
I’m Joanna — a Chicago-area photographer based in Arlington Heights, specializing in lifestyle newborn photography across the North Shore. My approach is calm and baby-led: no pressure, no complicated posing, and plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks. Your home becomes the backdrop to your story — because the most meaningful images are the ones that feel like your real life.
In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Photography in Evanston, IL
Lifestyle newborn sessions are about connection. We’ll use soft window light and create photographs that feel honest: baby in your arms, slow moments in the nursery, siblings leaning in close, and the tiny details you’ll miss one day — fingers, lashes, curls. You don’t need a perfect home or a perfectly behaved baby. You just need to show up as you are.
What We Capture
- Baby + parents (snuggles, soothing, feeding breaks)
- Sibling connection (gentle, natural, kid-led)
- Nursery moments + meaningful details
- Simple newborn portraits that feel timeless
What to Expect
1) Planning support
Once you book, you’ll receive a short guide with styling tips, light + room suggestions, and a simple “don’t-stress” prep list. (Think: neutral, soft, elevated — nothing fussy.)
2) A calm, baby-led session
Sessions are slow and unhurried. We pause for feeding, soothing, diaper changes — whatever baby needs. I’ll guide you with gentle prompts so you never feel awkward, even if you don’t feel “camera ready.”
3) Your gallery
Your final images will feel cohesive, warm, and story-driven — a mix of connection, details, and the quiet moments that define this season.
When to Schedule Your Evanston Newborn Session
Lifestyle newborn photography is beautiful from 7 days to 8 weeks. Earlier sessions often feel sleepier; later sessions can feel more alert and interactive — both are perfect in different ways. Most families reserve a spot around their due date, then we choose the final date once baby arrives.
Optional Add-Ons
Newborn Film
Want the full feeling of this season? Add a short newborn film. Motion captures what photos can’t — the stretching, the tiny sounds, the way you sway without thinking.
Baby’s First Year
Ask about Baby’s First Year (newborn + 6 months + 1 year), with optional film add-on for one session.
FAQ
Do we need to clean our home?
No. A quick tidy of the main areas is plenty. I’ll guide you to the best light and angles.
How long does it take?
Typically 60–120 minutes so we can follow baby’s rhythm.
What if baby cries?
That’s completely normal. We pause, soothe, and keep everything calm. Some of the sweetest photos happen in real moments.
What should we wear?
Neutral and soft: warm whites, oatmeal, muted earth tones, gentle textures. I’ll send a styling guide after booking.
Can siblings be included?
Yes — lifestyle sessions are wonderful for siblings because they can interact naturally and safely without pressure.
